Maxwell Raises Crosfield Bid: British media tycoon Robert Maxwell has written to the financial printing group De La Rue Co. PLC saying that he would raise his offer for its electronics firm, Crosfield, by $49 million (30 million pounds sterling), British newspapers reported. The new offer would raise the bid to $429 million (265 million pounds), topping the price agreed to by Du Pont de Nemours & Co. of the United States and Fuji Photo Film Co. Ltd. of Japan. John White, finance director of De La Rue was quoted as saying that any new offer would be impractical and would not be allowed by U.S. and European regulators.
