South Laguna : Hospital Identifies Woman Hit by Cars
A pedestrian struck by two cars in South Laguna was identified Monday by hospital officials as Herrisa Pennywell, 26, of Laguna Beach.
Pennywell remained in critical condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo following the accident Sunday on Coast Highway.
She was struck as she tried to cross the highway about 1:30 a.m. near West Street, Laguna Beach police said. After being knocked into the hood and windshield of a car driven by a Long Beach man, Pennywell rolled back into the roadway, where she was struck by another motorist following behind in the northbound lanes.
Both drivers immediately stopped and called help. Neither was cited, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Ray Lardie said.
Pennywell’s identity was initially a mystery because she carried no identification. Lardie said her boyfriend later provided identification.
