Irvine : Inmate Crew Finds Unidentified Body
Orange County Jail inmates picking up roadside trash in an unincorporated area near Irvine Lake on Tuesday discovered a body covered with plywood and rocks, sheriff’s deputies said.
The badly decomposed condition of the body made immediate identification impossible, deputies said. No cause of death was established and an investigation was under way. Officers speculated that the victim had been dead about two weeks.
The inmates found the body on an embankment on Santiago Canyon Road about a mile south of Irvine Lake, deputies said.
