Alleged Drunk Driver in Fatal Crash Posts Bail
A Los Angeles man, charged with murder last week after his wife was fatally injured in an accident allegedly caused by his drunk driving, was freed from Los Angeles County Jail on $500,000 bail.
County Criminal Courts records show that one day after bail was set, Harry Bouboushian, 34, was freed Thursday after posting a $50,000 bond.
Bouboushian has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder as well as to one count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one count of hit-and-run driving and two counts of felony drunk driving.
Police said Bouboushian was exceeding 100 m.p.h. when his 1988 BMW crashed on Los Feliz Boulevard.
Armine Karapetian, Bouboushian’s wife, was killed in the accident and six other passengers were injured.
Bouboushian, owner of an Inglewood body shop, had two previous drunk-driving convictions and had completed a court-ordered drunk-driving treatment program three days before the accident, police said. Authorities said he also had six outstanding tickets for speeding.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday.
