LOONEY TUNES AND MERRIE MELODIES: A Complete Illustrated Guide to the Warner Bros. Cartoons by Jerry Beck and Will Friedwald (Henry Holt: $14.95 , illustrated)
Between 1930 and 1969, Warner Bros. released some of the best and funniest cartoons in the history of animation. This compilation of credits and plot synopses for the entire Warners oeuvre is a must for animation students and trivia buffs. The new edition is more complete than the original hardcover: Jerry Beck and Will Friedwald have expanded the text to include “The Bugs Bunny Show” and the recent compilation features and specials. As the illustrations are small and poorly reproduced, “Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies” should be read in conjunction with Steve Schneider’s lavish “That’s All Folks.”
