Suspect in Slaying of Boss Surrenders
An employee of a Canoga Park janitorial service sought by police in the shooting death his boss has surrendered to authorities, Los Angeles police said Sunday.
Richard Bullinger, 33, was arrested on suspicion of murder after turning himself in at the Police Department’s Van Nuys Division about 4 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Robert Swanson said.
Homicide detectives had been looking for Bullinger since late Thursday, when Robert D. Norris, 49, was shot to death in front of his home in the 7100 block of McLennan Avenue.
Norris owned Bob’s Janitorial Service, and Bullinger had worked for Norris for at least 10 years, police said.
The motive for the shooting was unknown, Swanson said. But police detectives said Friday that the two men had an ongoing dispute over money, possibly including finances from the business. The two apparently argued earlier Thursday before the shooting, police said.
Bullinger was being held without bail Sunday at the Van Nuys jail. Formal charges were expected to be filed early this week, police said.
