Pari-mutuel machines were back in action at Saratoga in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., one day after a massive computer glitch made a mess of the 125-year-old race track’s opening day.

Technicians worked through the night to replace faulty software, said President Gerard McKeon of the New York Racing Assn.

The computer failure affected the track’s computerized betting machines and tote board, leaving bettors in the dark about odds, payoffs and even the time of day.
