The Centinela Valley Union High School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to appoint Sonja D. Davis, formerly assistant and interim principal of Leuzinger High School, as principal.

Davis, a former English and social studies teacher with 21 years of experience, will fill a vacancy left by Andrea Harris, who resigned two years ago to take a job as principal of Healdsburg High School north of San Francisco.

Davis, 46, was selected at Tuesday night’s school board meeting after being unanimously recommended by a nine-member selection committee. Davis of Mission Viejo was chosen from 147 applicants, including 10 principals and five former principals.
