Charles Utts of Camarillo, the Street Stock oval track points leader, continued his winning ways at Ventura Raceway on Friday night, winning a hard-fought 20-lap main event race.

Utts rode the rear end of leader Bill Meyer of Anaheim for 18 laps before taking advantage of the congested 17-car field to overtake Meyer on the front straightaway at the newly expanded quarter-mile dirt track. Don Green of Ventura was second and Meyer finished third.

The raceway was enlarged from a one-fifth-mile oval during a three-week break from racing while the Ventura County Fair was in progress.
