A. BARTLETT GIAMATTI 1938--1989 : Rose ‘Shocked’ by the News
Robert Pitcairn Jr., one of Pete Rose’s attorneys, spoke with the former cincinnati Reds manager by telephone about Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti’s death Friday.
“Pete is deeply saddened by the news,” Pitcairn said. “He extends his deepest sympathy to Commissioner Giamatti’s family.”
Asked Rose’s initial reaction to the news, Pitcairn said: “He was shocked, just as we all were.”
