Two men were killed Sunday in Lancaster when the car in which they were riding ran a stop sign and was struck by another vehicle, authorities said Monday.

One of the dead was identified as Ryan Shawn Berry, 20, of Palmdale, said Lt. Dan Reidder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Reidder said the other victim’s name could not be released because his family had not been notified, but added that he was the son of a sheriff’s deputy assigned to the Antelope Valley substation. Both the victims were passengers, he said.

The accident occurred about 9 p.m. when the car carrying the two victims ran a stop sign at 30th Street and Avenue I, Reidder said. The car was traveling north on 30th Street West and was broadsided by a vehicle heading west on Avenue I, he said.

Reidder said both drivers were in serious condition Monday at Antelope Valley Medical Center.

The driver of the car in which the two young men died was identified as Ronald Corbin, 21, of Westchester. Reidder identified the driver of the other vehicle as Michael Parton, of Tehachapi.
