Mobile Health Van

How interesting to observe that the two separate articles on your Aug. 24, Orange County Life section cover page embody common reference to several lofty maxims that inspire the best in us!

One article, in suggesting intolerance on the part of a citizen’s organization and the Orange County Board of Supervisors, cites various well-known authorities who proclaimed precepts such as equality of opportunity, compassion for the sick, poor and weak, and doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. Those authorities included notables such as Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Jesus of Nazareth.

The companion article on St. Jude Hospital’s Mobile Health Van provides a classic example of the application of those precepts and adds one, as stated by the hospital’s program director, “Health care is a right, not a privilege.”

St. Jude Hospital should be commended and supported in its sponsorship of the charitable work provided by the Mobile Team, which is obviously making an impact on the crisis in health care for the poor.
