P.M. BRIEFING : British Coal to Sell U.S. Holdings

LONDON — The British Coal Board is in the final stages of negotiations to sell its extensive U.S. real estate portfolio, including the Watergate complex in Washington, the company said today.
But the company refused to confirm details released in a newspaper report Monday stating that British Coal has agreed to sell the portfolio for more than $800 million and identifying two potential buyers.
