A 5-year-old girl slept overnight in a locked school bus in a Sacramento parking yard after she apparently got on the wrong bus and did not know when to get off, her parents said. Kathy Chao, who speaks Laotian and only a few words of English, told her parents that she sat far in back of the bus and waited for the driver to call her name. But he never did. “She said she looked everywhere for her bus stop, but she didn’t see it,” said her father, Kao Nai Saechao. “She said she was afraid to get off.” The girl was found safe after she jumped off the bus through the rear emergency door and two men heard her crying inside the fenced bus yard. The girl was tired and hungry but unhurt, police said.
