Campeau OKs Plan to Sell Chain: Campeau Corp.’s board, meeting privately at the real estate and retailing company’s headquarters in Toronto, approved a proposal disclosed Friday to put its Bloomingdale’s department store chain up for sale and take other measures to relieve its cash crunch. As one of the best-known names in retailing, the Bloomingdale’s chain is expected by analysts to attract significant interest among potential buyers. Already, shopping mall developer Crown American Corp. has confirmed that it is preparing a possible bid, and Bloomingdale’s Chairman Marvin S. Traub has said he wants to lead a management buyout.
