Doctor Accused of Financial Fraud
The federal government has charged Dr. Irving M. Cohen, 43, with eight felony counts in connection with false financial statements allegedly filed with four federally insured banks.
Cohen, a Del Mar resident, failed to report “substantial outstanding loans” which he previously had received from other banks, Assistant U.S. Atty. William Q. Hayes said Friday. Cohen subsequently received or renewed eight loans that totaled more than $500,000 from First National Bank, San Diego Trust & Savings, Torrey Pines Bank and Bank of Del Mar.
Cohen faces a maximum of two years and a $250,000 fine for each of the eight offenses.
