Athletic Competitions Will Raise Money for Youth Charities
The third annual Westside Broker Challenge, a daylong series of athletic competitions staged to raise money for Westside charities, will take place Monday at the Beach Club in Santa Monica.
Teams representing 18 Westside commercial real estate companies will compete in paddle tennis, volleyball, running relays, an obstacle course and golf. A reception and auction will follow in the evening. Funds will be raised by entry fees, corporate sponsorships, donations and the auction.
The beneficiary this year will be Family Service of Santa Monica. Proceeds will go to a program of education and counseling geared toward helping children and teen-agers resist drug and alcohol abuse.
Last year’s competition raised $36,000 for Project Prevent, a drug education program in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
