Services Wednesday for CSUF Wrestler Erin Millsap
Funeral services for Erin Millsap, Cal State Fullerton wrestler who died in a motorcycle accident Friday, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Covina.
Millsap, 21, a 118-pound junior from Simi Valley, had been on the wrestling squad for two seasons. He had a 36-8-2 record as a sophomore and finished the season rated 16th in the nation in the 118-pound class by Amateur Wrestling News. His record and pins--5--were second-best on the team.
Millsap competed at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Oklahoma City in March but did not place in the 118-pound category.
Millsap, who began wrestling at age 5 and dreamed of making the 1992 Olympic team, was thrown from a motorcycle near the Cal State Fullerton campus. Former teammate Paul Reutzel, who was driving the bike and carrying Millsap as a passenger, lost control of the motorcycle, and both men were thrown to the pavement. Reutzel was hospitalized with a mild concussion.
In 1988, Millsap took the bronze medal at the freestyle Espoir Cup championship, an international competition of five countries in Newfoundland. He also finished fourth in the six-country Greco-Roman competition in Athens.
