Inmate on Trip for Supplies Escapes
Orange County sheriff’s deputies were seeking a jail inmate who escaped in Santa Ana on Tuesday while on a trip with a jail employee to buy supplies, authorities said.
David Lawrence Barmore, 20, who was being held at the Theo Lacy branch jail in Orange on bench warrants in connection with burglary and car theft, jumped from the jail employee’s car about 11 a.m. and ran toward the corner of Edinger Avenue and Fairview Street in Santa Ana, Sheriff’s Department Lt. Jay Mendez said.
Barmore is described as white, with brown hair and hazel eyes, about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.
“He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt with ‘Orange County Branch Jail’ stenciled on them, and white tennis shoes,” Mendez said.
Details were sketchy on why Barmore was with the civilian jail employee, Mendez said.
Anyone with information on Barmore’s whereabouts is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 647-7000.
