Here is a sampling of how many cookies, muffins or bowls of cereal you would need to eat each day to lower cholesterol by about 3%, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

After each are the serving size, grams of oat bran per serving, calories in a serving and number of servings needed for the cholesterol reduction.
