Pomona : Campus Library Dedicated
An expansion of the Cal Poly Pomona Library was dedicated in a ceremony that also marked the addition of the repository’s 500,000th volume.
University President Hugh La Bounty and library Director Harold Schleifer on Monday officially opened the $7.4-million expansion, which added two new floors to the three-story library. The expansion can seat 2,600.
“When the university opened in 1938, the library was one room, measuring 33 feet by 45 feet, so we’ve come a long way,” said Norm Schneider, a university spokesman.
Cal Poly Pomona, part of the California State University system, has 19,000 students.
