3 Killed, 3 Wounded in Gang Shootings

Three men were killed and three others were wounded in a burst of gang-related shootings, authorities said Thursday.

Several shots fired from a van struck three men near the Imperial Court Housing Project in Watts late Wednesday, killing one at the scene in the 1800 block of East 114th Street, a known gang hangout, Los Angeles police said.

The two other victims were taken to Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center, where one died, officers said.

A later attack on the same street left another person wounded, Young said. The victim was in stable condition.

Police arrested two suspected gang members near the scene of the second shooting, Young said.

The names of the victims and suspects were not immediately available. It was unclear whether the incidents were connected.

In another shooting late Wednesday, a gunman fired shots into a car at a Compton gas station, killing the driver and wounding his companion, police said. The dead man was identified as Tyrone Peoples, 20, The wounded man was identified only as an 18-year-old.

A motive was unknown, but detectives said it was “very possible that it was gang-related.”
