Rasmussen Paces Tustin to Victory
Jason Rasmussen ran three yards to score the game’s only touchdown with six minutes left in the second quarter to give Tustin High School a 10-0 victory over Irvine Thursday at Irvine.
The Tillers improved to 3-0, holding Irvine (1-2) to 65 yards and recovering two Vaqueros fumbles in the first half. Kelvin Love rushed for 93 yards with 17 carries to lead Tustin offensively.
“Playing (Love) is like playing with 53 cards,” Tustin Coach Marijon Ancich said. “We always have an ace up our sleeve. He’ll be really ready when the conference starts.”
Irvine quarterback Vaughn Shackelford threw 11 passes for 25 and 9 incomplete passes. Brandon Krabbe was able to intercept two Tustin passes, but none leaded to points.
