Vista
A Vista sheriff’s deputy shot and killed an armed man Friday morning, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Deputies answered a call that one man was beating someone in the 1000 block of Lime Place in Vista, Sheriff’s Sgt. Manny Castillo said.
Deputies and investigators searched the residence twice before finding the man in the back bedroom, Castillo said. A sheriff’s deputy ordered him to surrender. The man allegedly raised a weapon at the officer and made threatening statements. The deputy, fearing for his life, fired one shot, killing the man, Castillo said.
The Sheriff’s Department refused to name the deputy who fired the weapon. The dead man’s name will be withheld pending notification of next of kin, Castillo said. Sheriff’s homicide investigators are handling the investigation.
