Redlands 35, Antelope Valley 13--Host Antelope Valley (1-2) struggled offensively for the second consecutive week. Antelope Valley’s frustration began in the second quarter when it failed to score on two excellent opportunities.
Senior tailback Wayne Walters caught a screen pass, broke several tackles and ran 62 yards untouched down the sideline, only to fall at the Redlands 13. On the same possession, sophomore Peter Holt attempted a 46-yard field-goal attempt, but the ball hit the left goal post and bounced away.
Antelope Valley quarterback Tony Abrams passed for 161 yards, completing nine of 25 passes. Abrams, however, threw 12 consecutive incomplete passes.
Redlands (3-0) led, 21-0, after three quarters. Running back Marcus Rogers caught an 18-yard touchdown pass and ran 10 yards for another score to give Redlands a 14-0 halftime lead. Chad Golob returned a punt 56 yards for a touchdown.
Walters scored both Antelope Valley touchdowns in the fourth quarter on runs of 11 and four yards. Walters finished with 15 yards rushing in 14 carries. Fullback David Whitson rushed for 60 yards in five carries.
