Jerome Oakman ran 52 yards for a touchdown on El Toro’s first offensive play of the game and finished with 141 yards and two touchdowns in 13 carries to help the Chargers to a 42-13 victory over Torrey Pines in San Diego.
Sonny Nguyen accounted for all of Bolsa Grande’s points, passing for one touchdown, running for another and kicking a field goal and an extra point in the Matadors’ 16-14 victory over Pioneer.
Matt Carvalho gained 113 yards rushing in 12 carries, scoring on runs of three, one, nine and 43 yards, to help Dana Hills to a 31-6 victory over Laguna Beach.
John Bailey, who had planned to sit out the football season to concentrate on football, made the most of his return to Fullerton, catching a 15-yard touchdown pass from Rene Arias and kicking field goals of 32 and 47 yards in the Indians’ 26-6 victory over Alta Loma.

DEFENDER OF THE DAY
Foothill linebacker Jamal Duff, who at 6-7 and 230 pounds is usually the biggest player on the field, helped the Knights come back to defeat Marina, 10-9. Duff had a third-quarter interception that set up a drive capped by Sean Saunders’ winning touchdown run.

Ryan Roskelly, a sophomore running back/defensive back, led Valencia to a 35-0 victory over cross-town rival El Dorado. He scored on runs of seven and 16 yards and returned a fumble 34 yards for another touchdown. Roskelly gained 30 yards in three carries and caught three passes for 25 more.
