Golden West Comes Back to Beat Pasadena
Golden West College rallied in the second half to defeat Pasadena, 19-15, Friday in the Mission Conference football opener for both teams in front of about 1,000 at Pasadena.
Pasadena took a 15-6 lead in the third quarter, but Golden West came back, led by Rip Flippo’s passing and Sean Cheatham’s running. Flippo threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Robert Bedord in the third quarter to cut the lead to 15-13. Flippo completed a 12-yard touchdown pass to Pat Reilly with about 11 minutes left.
Flippo was eight of 11 for 173 yards and two touchdowns for Golden West (1-1, 1-0). Cheatham had 146 yards in 24 carries, including a four-yard touchdown in the first half. He also had runs of 34 and 55 yards.
