Casting Jewish Actors as Jewish Characters
Willens’ article credits assimilation, the disappearance of stereotypes and “the Cosby Factor” with making “everyone in television ethnic-blind.” Apparently, The Times is outside the loop. The cover of the same Calendar blithely continues the tradition of equating Italian-Americans with organized crime; Frank Mancuso is photographed in a dark alley above the line “The benevolent godfather of Paramount.”
Nice work.
