Classical Problems
As KFAC’s demise as a classical station became widely known, KUSC--no longer fearful of competition--made a bold and aggressive move to reduce its monthly program guide.
KUSC raises funds from the public with a selling point of a monthly program guide that lists practically every piece of music played each hour so that listeners can “program their own listening.”
With the demise of KFAC, KUSC announced a partial music listing covering a span of 5 or 6 hours. The guide became worthless because it is no longer possible for anyone to “program his own listening”--it is now practically impossible to determine when a certain piece of music can be heard.
