New 3-Year Contract Gives City College Employees 5% Raise
Non-teaching employees at Long Beach City College will receive a 5% salary increase under a new three-year contract approved by the college Board of Trustees. Future increases, according to the contract, will be tied to the Consumer Price Index.
The new contract, ratified earlier this month, covers employees represented by the California School Employees Assn. Among others, they include secretaries, custodians, security personnel and bookkeepers whose current salaries range from $1,220 to $2,842 a month.
Other aspects of the new contract include the addition of mediation and advisory arbitration for grievances and the creation of a system by which employees can donate sick leave to one another.
