Kings Lose, 7-3, to Jets Without Gretzky, Hrudey
WINNIPEG, Canada — With Wayne Gretzky sitting out this weekend’s three exhibition games and goalie Kelly Hrudey sitting out Saturday night, the Kings lost to the Winnipeg Jets, 7-3, before of 9,768, the smallest crowd of the Kings’ tour.
Mario Gosselin, the goalie acquired as a free agent from Quebec over the summer, gave up six goals to the Jets in the first period but played the entire game.
Mikael Lindholm, who had been playing on Gretzky’s right wing, centered a line for the first time in the exhibition season and scored his only goal of the preseason on a pass from Luc Robitaille in the second period.
King Notes
The Kings’ preseason record is 1-3-2 with five games left. . .Lineups are juggled constantly during preseason as different players sit out. Although the Kings have 11 exhibition games scheduled, the players’ assnociation has ruled that each player can play in no more than eight.
