Halvaks Named Freedom Bowl Associate Executive Director

Rob Halvaks, a former UC Irvine athletic official, has been hired by the Freedom Bowl as associate executive director.

Halvaks replaces Kirk Hendrix, who accepted a similar position in August with the Fiesta Bowl. Halvaks will be responsible for marketing the organization’s events, including the Freedom Bowl and Disneyland Pigskin Classic.

Halvaks, 35, joined the UC Irvine athletic department in 1979 as sports information director, a position he held for two years before becoming business manager. Halvaks was senior associate director of athletics when he left the university in July to become operations manager at KMNY/Money Radio Network. He also was an radio announcer for Irvine basketball games.
