Bernardo Bertolucci has chosen Eric Vu-An, a former dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet, to appear in his forthcoming film, “Tea in the Sahara.” The role of Belqassim, for which Bertolucci chose him, is essentially a dramatic role and has nothing to do with dance. The other actors involved in “Tea” are John Malkovich and Debra Winger; the film is based on the best-seller “The Sheltering Sky” by Paul Bowles. Filming began Sept. 20 in Tangier; Eric Vu-An will join the film makers in November for two months in the Sahara.
