Marriott Corp.: The Washington-based hotel, food service and restaurant firm said its third-quarter earnings grew 9% over the 1988 period to $63 million. Sales rose 16% to $1.93 billion. The company attributed the results to sales increases of 12% in lodging operations, 17% in contract services and 19% in restaurant operations, even as airline catering profits remained flat and net interest and corporate expenses grew 25% and 30%, respectively.
