Simmons Raises Lockheed Stake: Texas corporate raider Harold C. Simmons increased his holdings in Lockheed from 9.46% to 10.43%. He now holds 6.6 million common shares. Simmons, acting through his Valhi Inc. and several other business entities he controls, acquired 877,100 Lockheed shares between Aug. 1 and Sept. 26 for $47.37 to $53 each, or $41.8 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Simmons has said in earlier filings that he may decide to seek control of Lockheed, but has also said that his purchases are for investment purposes.
