SEC Charges Ex-Broker: The Securities and Exchange Commission said it has charged a former Merrill Lynch & Co. broker with stealing $500,000 from customers and using part of it to pay off gambling debts. Marc Stuart Weiner was charged in a suit filed in Manhattan federal court with misappropriating funds from 15 clients and depositing the money in his personal account and the accounts of others. The SEC is asking the court to order Weiner to repay the money stolen from customers. A spokeswoman for the New York regional office of the SEC said that Weiner is in his late twenties and is believed to be living in New York City.
