High School Cross-Country

Crespi 15, Alemany 46--The Celts improved their mark to 4-1 by sweeping the first five places in a Del Rey League meet at O’Melveny Park.

Jim Armato (17:33) paced Crespi (1-1 in league races). Mike Keefe (18:10) and John Lim (18:11) finished second and third.

Camarillo 15, Royal 49; Camarillo 18, Channel Islands 42; Channel Islands 17, Royal 45--The Scorpions, running without two of their top seven runners, placed four runners among the top five finishers in their Marmonte League opener at Camarillo Grove Park.

Seniors Chad Malesich, Abe Valdez and Derek Kite tied for first in 16:13. Junior Scott Stringer placed fifth in 16:53.

In girls’ meets:

Channel Islands 20, Camarillo 42; Channel Islands 15, Royal 50; Camarillo 15, Royal 50--Camarillo’s Katie Meyer (19:44) finished first but the Raiders claimed the next four places to run their Marmonte League record to 4-0.

Junior Yung Chong (20:10) and sophomore Veronica Barajas (20:12) finished second and third for Channel Islands.
