SALES AND USE TAX REVENUES
Almost $25 million made its way into city coffers with the latest allocation of sales and use tax revenues by the State Board of Equalization. The $3.3 million sent to Anaheim was the largest amount for a city while Villa Park’s $8,600 was the smallest. And although Costa Mesa received nearly three-quarters of a million dollars less than Anaheim, the per capita figure for Costa Mesa was more than twice as high. Similarly, the total amount flowing to Orange County was only about a third of that received by Los Angeles County, the Orange
County per capita figure was considerably higher.
Each month city and county governments and other governmental organizations receive payments from the state in anticipation of actual sales tax revenues. In the fouth month they receive a cleanup payment--the difference between actual revenue and amount previously received--plus the first advance payment for the next quarter. The amounts listed here are the cleanup payment for the second quarter of 1989 plus the first advance payment for the third quarter.
