Coto de Caza : Woman Pinned Between Trucks, Severely Injured
A Garden Grove woman was severely injured Thursday night when she became pinned between two pickup trucks in a construction yard near Coto de Caza, police officials said Friday.
The woman, Ana Estele Ellery, 25, was listed in serious condition with a fractured pelvis at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, hospital spokeswoman Jan Walker said.
California Highway Patrol officer Donna Maulucci said that the incident occurred at 11:20 p.m., when Ellery and William Swim, who lives with her, were parked near Plano Trabuco and Santa Margarita Parkway.
Ellery was standing behind Swim’s 1979 Ford truck as he climbed into the cab and began to pull away, Maulucci said. Somehow, she said, his truck began rolling back toward Ellery’s 1977 truck, which was parked behind and perpendicular to Swim’s truck.
“She screamed and he attempted to pull forward again,” Maulucci said. “But he apparently panicked and put the truck in reverse instead.”
The truck continued backward, crushing Ellery between the two vehicles, Maulucci said.
