Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Bubby Brister will be out two to four weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee, team physician Thomas W. Cowan said today.

Brister, injured with 35 seconds left in Sunday’s 26-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Three Rivers Stadium, was released this morning from Divine Providence Hospital.

Brister complained of sharp pains between his left knee and ankle, but X-rays of his left leg revealed no fractures. Cowan plans to reexamine the knee Tuesday.
