COMMUNITY COLLEGES : Litwak’s 4 Goals Lift Orange Coast to Water Polo Win
Tony Litwak scored four goals to lead Orange Coast College to a 12-5 victory over Saddleback in a Orange Empire Conference water polo match Tuesday at OCC.
Orange Coast improves to 14-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Pirates hold a two-game lead over second-place Saddleback, the conference defending champions. Cypress is also tied for second with a 4-2 record.
Orange Coast is the fourth-ranked team in the state; Saddleback is ranked 10th.
In another Orange Empire Conference match:
Cypress 8, San Diego Mesa 6--Craig Garcia had three goals and Steve Rhee two for visiting Cypress (15-4, 4-2).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Golden West 2, Cypress 2--Manny Diaz scored twice in the second half to give Cypress a tie at Golden West in the conference opener for both. Golden West (1-8-1, 0-0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by John Gediman. After Diaz tied it, 1-1, Dave Luang scored to give the Rustlers a 2-1 lead. Diaz again tied it with five minutes left.
Orange Coast 2, Fullerton 1--Sean Sweeney and Pat Callaghan scored in the first half for Orange Coast (7-3-1, 1-0). Jeff Holcombe scored early in the second half and goalkeeper Joshua Brooks had 12 saves for Fullerton (7-5-1, 0-1).
