Magma Power: The San Diego-based geothermal energy company, reported a third-quarter profit of $7.9 million on revenue of $19.6 million, contrasted with a profit of $2.6 million on revenue of $6.5 million for the same quarter last year. The company attributed the revenue gain to a 288% increase in electricity sales during the quarter over last year. For the nine months ended Sept. 30, Magma Power reported a profit of $15.3 million on sales of $47.1 million, up from a profit of $7 million on sales of $19.5 million for the same three quarters last year.
