Crescenta Valley 31, Hoover 7--Javier Pimentel scored two touchdowns and Pat Kennelly had a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown as Crescenta Valley rolled at Glendale High.
Pimentel (15 carries for 50 yards) opened the scoring for Crescenta Valley (5-1, 1-0) on a 10-yard run midway through the second quarter, and Kennelly swiped a halfback option pass by Curtis Kang and returned it for his score less than five minutes later.
With 26 seconds left in the second quarter, Damon Martin kicked a 32-yard field goal to give Crescenta Valley a 17-0 halftime lead.
Running back Stanley Baires caught a nine-yard pass from quarterback James Cottrell to bring Hoover (2-4, 0-1) to within 17-7 in the third quarter, but Crescenta Valley countered with a one-yard touchdown run by Pimentel and a 42-yard touchdown reception by Damon Morey from Ryan Kadletz, who completed five of 13 for 179 yards.
