San Diego
Roger Sing Ip, charged with killing a 15-year-old La Jolla boy after a traffic dispute, will stand trial March 5, a San Diego Superior Court judge ordered Monday.
Judge Herbert Exarhos set the trial date after Ip, 34, of Spring Valley, pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder in the July 10 shooting death of Kurt Von Yokes, a Mission Beach High School freshman.
Yokes was shot once in the chest by a driver angry over a near-accident with the car in which Yokes was riding.
Ip was ordered to stand trial in Yokes’ death after a three-day preliminary hearing that ended Sept. 15 before San Diego Municipal Judge H. Ronald Domnitz. Ip has been in County Jail on $1-million bail since his surrender July 27.
