Secretary General of U.N. Sends Message of Sympathy to Bush
UNITED NATIONS — The U.N. secretary general sent a message of sympathy to President Bush today on the San Francisco earthquake, saying the “thoughts of the world are with you and with the people of California at this difficult time.”
“It is with the utmost sadness that I have learned of the tragic consequences of the earthquake that struck the San Francisco area yesterday,” Secretary General Javier Perez de Cuellar said.
“Allow me to extend to you and through you to the bereaved families and to those injured my heartfelt condolences and sympathy.”
