The Washington-based National Endowment for the Arts is awaiting a review of the Bay Area arts situation by a senior staff member who happened to be in San Francisco at the time of the quake. The endowment said it was prepared to offer disaster relief funds to arts institutions that sustained specific losses of such things as vehicles, costumes and buildings.
