Peace Activist Will Speak Sunday
Peace activist Irving Sarnoff will deliver a talk on “Live to Save Our Planet” in an observation of United Nations Day Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church, 1259 Victoria St., Costa Mesa.
Sarnoff has been active in peace and anti-nuclear movements around the world. He is vice president of the Southern California World Federalists Assn., a founding director of Friends of the United Nations, and a founder and director of the Southern California Peace Action Council and the Alliance for Survival.

Mitchell Freedman of the Jewish National Fund will speak on “Jewish National Fund: Entering a New Decade” Monday at the Newport Beach Hadassah chapter meeting at Temple Bat Yahm of Newport Beach. Irv Weisberg of Santa Ana will be the chairman of the 16th annual Jewish Federation Israel Fair Oct. 29 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. Rodger Whitten of Irvine and Linda Wells of Laguna Beach have been named directors of the music ministry at Community Church, Congregational United Church of Christ, 611 Heliotrope Ave., Corona del Mar. Whitten, a graduate of USC, has performed all over the world and has taught piano and music theory at several colleges and universities. His title is organist/director of music. Wells, a UC Riverside graduate, is a composer of choral work. Her “Gloria” was performed by the Pacific Chorale and Pacific Symphony at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in 1986. Her title is director of the handbell and children’s choirs.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church will hold its annual Apple Festival Bazaar next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the south parking lot and education wing of the church, 3352 Katella Ave., Los Alamitos.
