JUNIOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
Moorpark 44, Harbor 0: Running back Freddie Bradley and the Raiders reduced the game to its basics.
“I just went up the middle and the line had already opened up some big holes and it was off to the races,” said Bradley, explaining the 83-yard scoring run that accounted for most of his 126 rushing yards.
Backfield mate Marc Monestime added 100 yards in 19 carries and Moorpark quarterback Jayson Merrill completed 11 of 20 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, despite playing only one half.
Merrill threw scoring strikes of 49 and 11 yards to wide receiver Peter Marine in the second quarter as the Raiders took a 30-0 halftime lead.
Moorpark (5-1, 4-1) used every player on the sidelines in the second half. Backup quarterback Kris Dutra tossed an 18-yard touchdown to wide receiver Matt Young, who made a tough catch over a defender in the end zone in the third quarter. Reserve running back John Brown, ended the scoring with a 29-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
