ON THE SIDELINES : Virginia Tech Coach in Hospital
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer is undergoing medical tests after suffering mild chest pains during the Hokies’ game at East Carolina on Saturday, a Virginia Tech spokesman said today.
Beamer, 43, underwent tests at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg on Sunday and was transferred today to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for further tests.
“He had chest pains as early as the third quarter and was feeling badly” after the East Carolina game, Virginia Tech spokesman Jack Williams said. Williams said team physician Dr. Duane Lagan examined Beamer after the game and found that his pulse and blood pressure were normal.
