Procter & Gamble Co.: First-quarter earnings rose 38% to $551 million from a year ago. The Cincinnati-based maker of household and personal-care products, foods and beverages said the increase includes a $125-million consent judgment that three cookie companies will pay it to settle a longstanding lawsuit on cookie patents.
